| Every frame is custom made and individually hand-finished. Many take up to 26 separate steps, beginning with raw wood. Natural hardwoods, painted finishes, gold and silver leaf, water-gilding, and period frames are available. |
Finishes are applied with an eye to emphasizing the sublime of the individual work being framed. With gold or silver gilding, the base color (bole) under the leaf is adjusted to highlight the colors of the art work. A range of treatments are available for contemporary art work, including ‘floater’ frames for canvases. Photographs, paper and mixed-media pieces may be conserved with 100% cotton museum-board, linen or silk matting, gallery presentation frames, and a variety of anti-reflective and UV-filtered glasses. |
